La iniciativa, que se debatirá en Urbanismo, plantea dos ejes principales, el Camino de Santiago y un corredor HUCA–El Cristo, como primera fase de un futuro anillo natural que conecte toda la ciudad
Oviedo podría dar un giro a su modelo de movilidad si prospera la propuesta que el Grupo Municipal Socialista llevará a la próxima comisión de Urbanismo. La iniciativa apuesta por una red de itinerarios verdes que reordene la relación de la ciudad con sus calles, priorizando a peatones, bicicletas y transporte sostenible. Lejos de centrarse en restricciones, el portavoz socialista, Carlos Fernández Llaneza, insiste en que el objetivo es “no prohibir, sino ofrecer alternativas mejores para la ciudad y la ciudadanía”.
El planteamiento del PSOE arranca con dos ejes considerados estratégicos. El primero recupera el Camino de Santiago a su paso por Oviedo, no solo como patrimonio histórico, sino como un corredor urbano que puede favorecer la movilidad activa. El segundo une dos de los puntos de mayor tránsito diario en la capital: el HUCA y el campus de El Cristo. “Miles de personas se desplazan cada día entre estos dos nodos esenciales. Ofrecerles una alternativa real al coche es imprescindible para reducir la congestión y avanzar hacia una movilidad más equilibrada y saludable”, explica Fernández Llaneza.
Ambos trazados cuentan con valoración favorable por parte del equipo redactor del Plan de Movilidad Urbana Sostenible (PMUS), lo que, según los socialistas, refuerza la viabilidad técnica de ponerlos en marcha como primera fase. A partir de ellos, la propuesta dibuja una red más ambiciosa, formada por calles verdes, sendas rurales, parques y corredores naturales, conectada con un futuro anillo natural que rodearía la ciudad desde las laderas del Naranco hasta el entorno de Mercadín.
La idea, según detalla el portavoz, es que cualquier ovetense pueda llegar a un espacio verde de calidad “en pocos minutos” y recorrer la ciudad sin interrupciones a pie o en bicicleta. El sistema incorporaría áreas de descanso, caminos tradicionales, zonas de sombra, mejoras en pavimentos e iluminación, mobiliario urbano más accesible y medidas de acompañamiento coordinadas con el transporte público.
Más allá de la infraestructura, el proyecto tiene una dimensión cultural. El PSOE quiere impulsar campañas de sensibilización que promuevan hábitos de vida más activos y una nueva forma de entender la calle, menos dependiente del coche y más orientada al bienestar: “Se trata de devolver la calle a las personas, reducir la contaminación y fomentar una movilidad más saludable”.
